Just thought I’d announce that I’ll soon increase the price of my novels to $3.99.
It’s always been my plan; the price will go up at different stores at different times.
Here are my reasons:
- Quality commitment. It takes me about a year to write a story, and about $5,000 to edit and polish it. I hire the best editors, Ph.D.’s in literature and experienced commercial writers. The last thing I want to do is to add to the crap already in the market.
- Price Differentiation. I’ll publish my short stories at $0.99, and my novel-length books at $3.99. If I ever come up with a novelette, I’ll price it at $2.99.
- A Dream to Write Full-time. I produce more enjoyable books when I write full-time. For that, I need to lean on full-time income.
The market is in still so very new, and I’ve seen folks succeed and fail both with free books and $9.99 books. The quality guys rise to the top based on the strength of their stories.
So… there you go. If you drop me a line with a nice request, I can always gift my book to you for free via Amazon .
