Parallels

A series of misfortunes had reduced him to want. His camp within a sparse copse of trees made manifest from which inherent evil could draw their nutrition. He pulled at the blanket of oblivion failing to conceal his past. Sleep did not come easily that night. It would be a long while before it did.

    Flash fiction allows one to set a scene in a poetically dramatic way – but must say in this case like the character described, it does keep the reader unsatisfied, wanting more.
